  • Chainama Hills College Hospital is a government run college hospital located approximately 10 kilometres East of Lusaka City Centre on the Great East Road, within Chainama Hills College Hospital Board of Management complex. It provides a variety of services including: Counselling, maternity, occupational therapy, day school for the mentally handicapped, Physiotherapy, Psychological services, X-ray, Ambulance and Anti-Retroviral Treatment (ART) services.

    Some of the other services include:

    FILTER CLINIC – The filter clinic is a consulting centre for persons with mental health problems.

    WARDS B, C, D, E and F – There are basically two admission wards, B and C for female and male patients respectively. Ward D and E are rehabilitation wards for female and male patients respectively. F ward is for children.

    DAY CENTRE – The Day Centre which is a special school for mentally handicapped children was established in 1970 as a unit of Education and Mental Rehabilitation for the mentally handicapped children. Classes for normalchildren have also be commenced

    OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY – This unit is specialised in rehabilitative treatment to clients with various health issues. It assists mental patients byspeeding up the recovery process and also helps identify skills and improve onthem.

    RECREATION THERAPY – Patients are provided with this therapy for the treatment and restoration of the body and mind of the mentally ill.

    PHYSIOTHERAPY – This unit has a role which is vital in treating patients using physical means and exercise. The aim is to restore and improve the patient’s well being

    PSYCHOLOGY SERVICES – The service is the only one of its kind in Zambia.It plays a leading role in producing the most appropriate programme forpatients after initial diagnostic treatment. The unit also carries out assessmentsof mentally handicapped, physically handicapped and disabled adults andchildren for placement in special schools, units and Colleges on behalf of theMinistry of Education. The Unit also carries out counselling of the patientsand offer parental and family guidance

    SOCIAL WORK UNIT – The focus of the unit is on the social aspect of the mental disorders.

    AMBULANCE SERVICES – The ambulance facility is free to in-patients but out-patients at the College Teaching Clinic have to pay a small fee for referral to the University Teaching Hospital.
